We are seeking a Per Diem Housekeeper/Laundry Person for our Nursing Home
The primary purpose of your job position is to perform the day-to-day activities of the Housekeeping/ Laundry Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing our facility, and as may be directed by the Laundry/ Housekeeping Supervisor, to assure that Fairview is maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner.
Administrative Functions
- Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor promptly, no matter the severity.
- Report immediately to your supervisor any emergency residents in apartment or houses.
- Be knowledgeable of and support the facility corporate compliance plan.
- Fill-out discharge turnover checklist to turn into supervisor as necessary
- Strives to meet department strategic goals.
- Attend and participate in in-service educational classes, quarterly in-services and on-the-job training programs as directed.
Equipment and Supply Functions
- Ensure that an adequate supply of cleaning supplies are maintained on cart and in stock to meet daily assignment executions.
- Perform routine maintenance timely.
- Keep supervisor informed of supply needs.
- Report equipment breakdowns/supply needs promptly.
Safety and Sanitation
- Dispose of refuse property.
- Monitor work areas and keep free of hazardous conditions.
- Use proper safety devices when handling infectious material; wear and/or use safety equipment or ask for help when lifting heavy objects.
- Follow established hand washing procedures.
- Follow established fire safety policies and procedures.
- Follow established policies governing the use/disposal of personal protective equipment and disposal of infectious waste.
- Handle and mix chemicals properly.
Housekeeping Services
- Execute day to day housekeeping assignments efficiently and effectively in compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
- Perform isolation cleaning and discard of refuse in appropriate containers.
- Work with maintenance department to identify room needs
- Discard trash into proper containers and reline trash receptacles.
- Ensure that work/assignment areas are clean and that equipment, tools, supplies are properly stored at all times to limit risk of injury.
Laundry Services
- Perform day-to-day laundry functions as assigned.
- Perform specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments.
- Perform assigned tasks in accordance with established laundry procedures.
- Collect linen, garments, etc., and place in appropriate containers or assigned areas.
- Wash soiled laundry, linen, garments, etc., in accordance with established procedures.
- Fold, stack, hang, and distribute clean laundry, linen, garments, etc., to residents daily and/or as instructed.
- Clean floors, including damp/wet mopping.
- Keep walls clean by washing, wiping, spot cleaning, disinfecting.
- Remove dirt dust, grease, film, etc., from equipment or floor surfaces, using proper cleaning/disinfecting solutions.
- Discard waste/trash into proper containers and reline trash receptacle with plastic liner.
Physical Demands
- Must be a minimum of 18 years old.
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
- Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
- Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies.
- Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 50 lbs
- May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations
