Position Information
Working Title Blackboard Support Specialist Position Status Part Time Department Professional Learning Center General Summary
Provide a full range of Blackboard Learn support to students, faculty and staff by responding to requests for information and assisting in-person, online, and by telephone. The support specialist will assist in the resolution of Blackboard issues, concerns, and problems while informing students about Blackboard processes, tools and support to meet their specific needs.
Specific Position Duties
Assist students with all functions of Blackboard Learn by providing support in multiple modalities. Troubleshoot computer-related issues such as password resets, email set-up and access, browser issues, login, course access and other technical issues.
Evaluate Blackboard issues presented by students and determine whether they can be resolved on the user end, or they need to be referred to the instructor or LMS administrator.
Assist students on how to access and effectively use additional third-party software applications and services licensed to work with Blackboard (i.e., TechSmith Relay, Respondus Lockdown Browser, Pearson MyLab, and others associated with course work in Blackboard). Provide guidance to students in acquiring access to Microsoft 365.
Demonstrate excellent customer service. Interact with students in a welcoming professional manner through personal, face-to-face, email, or telephone correspondence.
Be able to work independently without supervision or assistance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Proficiency in web and online computer skills for Blackboard Learn; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
Strong customer service skills
High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications Reporting Relationship Work Hours
