General Summary
Manage disciplines within each school under supervision of the Dean of Health Sciences.
Specific Position Duties
- Oversees the School of Health and Sciences programs and services.
- Serves as the primary liaison between faculty and administration.
- Oversees staffing, advising, evaluating, budgeting, scheduling, and daily operations of the school.
- Assists with coordinating dual credit courses at off-campus and extension sites.
- Contributes to the development of college goals, policies, and direction as related to instruction by serving on the Instructional Leadership Team.
- Effectively handles routine procedures necessary for the successful, day-to-day operation of the department as delegated by the department chair.
- Submits required reports and schedules in a timely manner to the Associate Vice President for Instruction-Efficacy.
- Maintains effective relationships with professional counterparts throughout the college and the community.
- Help oversee School of Health and Sciences Academic Success Coaches with advisement on degree plans and degree applications in order to comply with completion requirements.
- Assists with recruiting, marketing, and outreach for school programs.
- Actively participates in college functions and events, and engages in community service.
- Direct the schedule build for the discipline.
- Ensure compliance with instructional practices including SACSCOC and other agencies within the Health and Sciences field (i.e. ACEN)
- Manage, budget, and order supplies; 15. Schedule department meetings and maintain minutes to submit to the Vice President for Instruction.
- Lead and assist Department Chairs with class observations for returning faculty.
- Support LED and faculty in Core Program Outcome documentation and assist in assessment.
- Hire adjuncts and oversee adjunct support plan.
- Initial signature for forms (leave, incompletes, student schedule changes, etc.); 19. Oversee curricular development.
- Attend meetings as scheduled.
- Perform annual faculty evaluations.
- Address student complaints.
- Attend completion ceremonies, such college graduation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Credentialed and qualified to serve as full-time faculty in the program areas they lead; The Dean shall hold an unencumbered current license or privilege to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Texas; The Dean shall have been actively employed in nursing or a health science program(s) for the past five (5) years, with a minimum of one (1) year teaching experience in a pre-licensure nursing education or health science program; The Dean must have five (5) years of varied nursing experience or health sciences experience since graduation; Oral and written communication skills needed to deal effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in one of the disciplines supervised or related fields.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
