General Summary

The Director of Human Resources is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources management. The director will lead Human Resources practices and operations that will provide an employee-oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment, the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce.

Specific Position Duties

  • The Director of Human Resources leads implementation of services, policies, and programs through Human Resources staff.
  • Primary objectives are safety of the workforce, development of a superior workforce, development of the Human Resources department, development of an employee-oriented college culture that emphasizes; quality, continuous improvement, high performance, personal ongoing development.
  • Assists and reviews the process involving posting vacant positions, and hiring college employees, ensuring that proper employment guidelines are followed.
  • Assists college supervisors with development and revision of Employee job descriptions.
  • Oversees advertisement of open positions in appropriate publications as needed.
  • Process unemployment claims and reports.
  • Coordinates long-range planning for Human Resources department.
  • Prepares and/or reviews various payroll and human resources reports.
  • Maintain organization development and professional development.
  • Lead program management initiatives related to new employee orientation, development, and performance management.
  • Communicate effectively with employees regarding policies, benefits, and other HR-related inquiries.
  • Administration of OC All-In Program.
  • Ensuring compliance with labor laws & regulations.
  • Utilize data analysis skills to assess HR metrics and improve organizational effectiveness.
  • Manage employee relations issues, providing guidance and support to staff at all levels.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree. 1-2 years of previous HR Manager/Generalist experience or related field. Management of employees and/or processes that require documented systematic procedures to ensure continuity and success; Strong problem solving skills; Ability to work independently to identify areas of improvement, development and implement solutions; Understanding of data collection and use of data to improve processes; Documented experience in dealing with a diverse public; Working knowledge of human resources, benefits and/or payroll processes, including legal implications of ADA, Title IX, FMLA and other pertinent laws; Demonstrated ability to learn a complex integrated information system; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Professional appearance and demeanor that gains confidence of others in the person and the position; Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $68,000.00 - $73,000.00 per year
