Primary Focus:
Performs specific Housekeeping/laundry tasks under the supervision of the Housekeeping/Laundry Department Leader to ensure that the district’s facilities are maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner.
Essential Functions:
- Worker cleans and sanitizes throughout all areas of the hospital/swing bed care units, including offices, resident/patient rooms therapy rooms, lobbies, meeting rooms, hallways, and other facility buildings as needed or assigned. Performs all housekeeping duties included but not limited to, vacuum, mop, dust mop, shampoo, strip wax, refinish floors, buff floors, remove trash, clean windows, clean all offices, apartments, resident and public areas within and around the campus.
- May work outside of facility buildings to assist in appearance of the buildings or grounds.
- Must be able to push, lift or apply pressure of up to 50 lbs. for up to two hours at a time while performing daily tasks.
- Works near patients and/or family members. Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset and, at times, hostile individuals within the daily routine of this job.
- May be exposed to unpleasant sounds, odors, sights and possible conditions.
- Engages in collecting, sorting, washing, drying, folding, restocking and returning all linen and all other items sent to the laundry department.
- Operate including but not limited to washers, dryers, vacuums, shampooers, ladders, and any other equipment used in the day-to-day operation efficiently and unsupervised as need arises.
- Restocks items from inventory to proper locations so supplies/linens are readily available.
- Follows established safety regulations, including the use of equipment, supplies, personal protective equipment (PPE), MSDS, and correct ergonomic standards.
- Ability to read, write, take verbal instruction in English with reasonable accommodations.
Requirements
Required Education and Certification
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
