The Role
As an FLL Coach at Odin Wise Tutoring, you will play a crucial role in guiding and mentoring young participants in the First Lego League (FLL) Robotics program. Your primary responsibility will be to lead and facilitate a team of students, encouraging their creativity and problem-solving skills while instilling a passion for STEM education. As an FLL Coach, you will be instrumental in preparing the team for regional and national competitions, fostering teamwork and collaboration among the students.
Main Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Lead and manage a group of FLL participants, fostering a positive and inclusive team culture. Provide mentorship, encouragement, and guidance to help students excel in the program.
- Facilitation of Robotics Projects: Oversee the team's progress in designing, building, and programming their robot for the FLL challenges. Encourage innovative thinking and help students develop effective solutions.
- Curriculum Implementation: Follow the FLL curriculum and ensure that the team understands the program's core values, rules, and guidelines. Facilitate discussions and activities related to the FLL theme and project.
- Time Management: Manage the team's schedule effectively, ensuring that they stay on track with the competition timeline and meet important milestones.
- Communication: Maintain open and clear communication with team members, parents, and Odin Wise Tutoring staff. Provide regular updates on the team's progress and address any concerns or challenges that may arise.
- Support and Motivation: Encourage teamwork and collaboration among team members. Recognize and celebrate individual and team achievements, promoting a positive and supportive learning environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (or working towards one) in a relevant field (e.g., STEM education, engineering, computer science) or equivalent experience in robotics and programming.
- Prior experience coaching or mentoring students in robotics, engineering, or STEM-related activities is preferred.
- Knowledge of the First Lego League program and competition rules is advantageous.
- Strong passion for STEM education and inspiring young learners to explore and excel in these fields.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Proven problem-solving and critical thinking abilities, with a focus on fostering creative thinking in students.
