Speech Language Pathologist - Full Time - Vadnais Heights, MN
Hours: Full Time, Flexible
Days: Monday through Fridays
Position Summary:
The Speech Language Pathologist will be responsible for providing outpatient speech therapy services for Odom Rehab in an ethical and professional manner. Speech Therapy services for Odom Rehab will be provided in accordance with each specific state guidelines.
The employee shall also perform (i) such other duties as are customarily performed by an employee in a similar position, and (ii) such other and unrelated services and duties as may be assigned to the employee from time to time by Odom Rehab.
Responsibilities:
Provide Speech Therapy Services
1. Evaluate and treat patients in accordance with state guidelines.
2. Establish appropriate POC (Plans of Care) for the patients
3. Interpret speech and language test results, barium swallow results, or medical or background information to diagnose and plan treatment for speech, language, cognitive, voice and/or swallowing disorders.
4. Write reports and maintain proper documentation of information, such as patient Medicaid or billing records or caseload activities, including the initial evaluation, treatment, progress, and discharge of patients.
5. Monitor patients' progress and adjust treatments accordingly.
6. Develop or implement treatment plans for problems such as motor speech, impaired language, cognitive impairments, swallowing disorders, or voice problems, based on own assessments and recommendations of physicians, therapy team members, or other health care professionals.
7. Administer speech and language evaluations, tests, or examinations to patients to collect information on type and degree of impairments, using written or oral tests or special instruments.
8. Educate patients, caregivers, and family members about various topics, such as communication techniques or strategies to cope with or to avoid personal misunderstandings.
9. Collaborate with the therapy team.
10. Instruct patients in techniques for more effective communication or voice improvement.
11. Develop home programs.
12. Complete administrative responsibilities, such as coordinating paperwork, scheduling case management activities, or writing treatment plans.
13. Consult with and refer patients to additional medical or educational services such as audiology, ENT or GI.
14. Determine which devices may be most appropriate, program them, and train patients and caregivers on how to use them.
15. Track and complete Continuing Education Credits and renewal steps necessary to keep current on SLP licensure.
16. Maintain an active SLP license.
