Summary/Objective
The Facilities Technician works in cooperation with DC General Manager and the Maintenance Supervisor to perform the maintenance of equipment and facilities of an automated distribution center.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Ensures the facilities and grounds are maintained in accordance with relevant regulations, agency standards, and fiscal consideration.
- Conducts regular maintenance inspections of the facility with the relevant manager; provides a summary of maintenance recommendations and documents repairs
- Completes corrective and preventive maintenance in accordance with agency operating procedures, practices, and financial considerations.
- Ensures facilities equipment and furnishings are maintained in safe, operable condition and/or arrange for replacement.
- May attend training programs relevant to the duties and responsibilities of this position.
- Attends and participates in training opportunities and seminars relevant to this position.
- Coordinates with outside vendors for repairs and projects when they cannot be completed using internal resources.
- Maintains conveyors, storage racks, wrappers, banders, robotics and other automated warehouse equipment.
- General building maintenance repair including: Toilets, drywall, doors, office furniture, concrete repairs etc.
- Maintain dock doors, mechanical and dock shelters.
Education and Experience
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent (Required)
- 1-2 years of Robotics (Preferred)
- 5-6 years of experience in all phases of building maintenance.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics
- 3-5 years’ experience with maintaining Dematic conveyors, diverters and packing machines
- Experience with CMMS or maintenance work order software
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Single and three phase electric motors and lighting
- PC and PLC controlled equipment
- Forklift, scissor lift and boom lift operation experience
- Experience with conveyance systems preferred with ability to perform routine repairs
Language Requirements
- Ability to hear, read and comprehend, write, and communicate.
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Regularly required to bend, kneel, stoop, crawl, climb ladders both caged and un-caged as well as stairs and other equipment.
- Continually required to stand and walk.
- Manually lift certain items (routinely requires the ability to lift 50 pounds, but may require the ability to lift up to 100 pounds).
- Ability to work at heights up to 30’.
