VOLUNTEER SUMMARY:
Administrative Support Volunteers will aid various departments within (including but not limited to) Human Resources, Maintenance & Facilities, Animal Care, and Animal Health through assistance with administrative tasks such as filing, organizing, and other projects. This Volunteer role requires 8 hours per month for a minimum 3-month commitment in order to maintain active Volunteer status. Any necessary role specific Volunteer training occurs onsite.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with daily tasks or projects including (but not limited to) filing, photocopying, organizing, shredding, answering and operating multi-line telephone system, and generating memos, emails, and reports. Support team members with record keeping, scheduling, and distribution of mail as necessary.
- Proactively engage guests in a friendly and courteous manner. Uphold standards of excellence in guest experience.
- Follow all policies and procedures set forth by OdySea Aquarium Foundation including adherence to zoological grooming standards.
Requirements
VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Satisfactory completion of a background check and drug screen.
- Willingness to be flexible, learn, and multitask. Positive attitude, strong work ethic, team oriented, responsible, and enthusiastic.
- Must be comfortable greeting and engaging with guests. Required to frequently talk and hear.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time, as well as walk.
- No impairment of senses that might interfere with the ability to complete tasks.
- Must be able to take cues directly or indirectly.
- Ability to operate a computer and keyboard. Solid computer and MS Office skills, including Word, Excel and Power Point.
- Ability to handle confidential information.
- Ability to complete tasks in an environment that may be loud, wet, or humid at times.
