What are the responsibilities and job description for the High School Math Teacher position at Odyssey Charter School?
Odyssey Charter School is the first charter school to utilize the blended learning model in Las Vegas and the longest standing charter school in the state of Nevada. We are a public school that is sponsored by the Clark County School District. Our mix of online and in-class instruction, backed by an incredible staff, creates a K-12 educational journey that is effective and flexible enough to give kids with wide-ranging needs the foundation for success.
Our blended model of online schooling and in-class instruction only tells part of the story. We set out to create a culture of support. Our administrators and teachers believe in our kids. Our school environment is tailored to eliminate the obstacles that life sometimes puts between students and their education.
We are currently recruiting a full-time licensed High School Math Teacher for the 2025/2026 school year. This position will be required to be on campus full-time.
Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree and possess a valid Nevada Department of Education License with an endorsement in the area of 7-12 Math w/Calculus or 7-12 Math Major, with additional endorsements preferred. Candidates with out of state licenses must show that their NVDOE license is in process in order to be considered for the position.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills and have an understanding of effective lesson planning/course design. Candidates should also have strong computer skills with online instruction experience preferred.
Odyssey Charter School maintains a competitive salary scale. Our salary scale ranges from $61,412 - $118,855, placement on the scale shall be based on your previous school-based contract amount. We are currently in the process of revising our licensed staff pay scale to align with the recent changes made by Clark County School District. However, we are not able to finalize the new pay scale without budget information from the current legislative session. While we are waiting for more information about our funding, our Board of Directors has approved a $10,000 recruitment incentive for outside applicants that have not already been placed on CCSD’s current scale implemented July 2023 (placement by years of experience and education credits). This $10,000 incentive serves as a “down payment” on a salary adjustment until the pay scale revision is approved. The first payment of the recruitment incentive of $5,000 will be issued in August and the second payment of $5,000 will be issued in January. In the event the scale is approved and the new placement is higher, placement will be adjusted. If their new placement on the salary scale exceeds the $10,000 incentive, the difference between the $10,000 and the new salary will be reflected on the 2025/2026 contract.
Our health insurance plan is aligned with the Clark County School District and we participate in the Nevada Public Employees Retirement System. Odyssey’s licensed staff contract days are 7 hours and 11 minutes per day. Employees receive 15 sick days per year and you may bring over your unused accrued sick time from your previous school district or public charter school within Nevada.
