Job Title: Nuclear Radiology Generalist - 3 month contract
Job Description: The Nuclear Radiology Generalist is responsible for performing high-quality routine and specialized Nuclear Radiology procedures as ordered by a licensed independent practitioner, with the resulting images interpreted by radiologists. This role combines scientific expertise, technical proficiency, patient interaction, and compassionate care to provide diagnostic results. The Generalist is responsible for recognizing patient conditions crucial for the successful execution of procedures.
The position requires knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology, as well as precision in imaging positioning and technique. The Generalist must also possess a thorough understanding of radiation safety protocols to ensure protection for themselves, patients, and others. The role involves preparing, administering, and documenting medications in compliance with state regulations and institutional policies.
The Generalist acts as a liaison between patients, radiologists, and the support team. Responsibilities include confirming patient identity, ensuring age-appropriate care, verifying pregnancy and informed consent, and assessing factors that could contraindicate procedures. Based on the medical order, the Generalist determines the correct contrast agent type and dosage according to the patient's age, weight, and medical condition. The position also requires anticipating and addressing patient needs throughout the procedure.
Skills:
- Proficient operation of required equipment, including troubleshooting when needed, such as automated processors, film digitizing equipment, R.I.S., and PACS.
- Basic life support and understanding of medical terminology.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and provide exceptional customer service.
- Independent scanning of patients in accordance with established protocols.
- Knowledge of basic office equipment (e.g., fax).
- Bilingual skills are a plus.
Education & Certifications:
- Required: Technical diploma from a formal diagnostic Radiology program.
- Required: Certification as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (CMRT) by the Texas Medical Board, and Certification as a Nuclear Medical Technologist (CNMT) by the NMTCB, or ARRT Certification in Nuclear Medicine.
- Additional certifications (ARRT or NMTCB) and a Texas Department of Health license required.
Skills & Experience:
- Required: Liaison, PACS, Articulate, Radiology, Digitizing, Medical Tech, Radiation Safety, and Customer Service.
- Preferred: Bilingual, Laboratory, Medical Equipment, Retail Sales.

- Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
