Th e position of Manager, Dispatch , primary responsibilit ies are to oversee the daily operations of our dispatch team and driver fleet, ensuring efficient and timely coordination of shipments. This role requires excellent leadership skills, in-depth industry knowledge, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

As required by applicable Pay Transparency laws, Odyssey provides a range of minimum compensation for roles that may be hired in locations under these requirements. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include a wide array of factors, including: your specific skills and experience, geographic location, or other relevant factors. The salary range for this position may be lower or higher in different markets.
The base pay range for this position is: $$88,500 - $133,000.00 plus bonus potential

In This Role, You Will
Team Leadership and Development:
- Manage, train, and develop the dispatch team, providing guidance and support to ensure high performance and professional growth.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Train and manage drivers, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor driver performance, including adherence to schedules, customer service, and safety standards.
- Address driver concerns and provide support to ensure job satisfaction and retention.
- Oversee the daily operations of the dispatch team and driver fleet, ensuring timely and efficient coordination of shipments.
- Monitor and optimize dispatch workflows to maximize efficiency and minimize delays.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Serve as the main point of contact for key clients, addressing any concerns and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, carriers, and other stakeholders.
- Work with senior management to develop and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency and service quality.
- Analyze operational data and metrics to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
- Problem Solving:
- Proactively identify and resolve operational issues, ensuring minimal disruption to service.
- Develop and implement contingency plans to address potential disruptions or emergencies.
- Communication:
- Ensure clear and effective communication within the dispatch team, driver fleet, and across other departments.
- Prepare and present regular reports on operational performance to senior management.
- Budget Management:
- Assist in the development and management of the dispatch and driver department budget.
- Monitor expenses and implement cost-saving measures where possible.

- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is highly preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a dispatch or operations management role within the freight forwarding industry.
- Proven experience in people management, with strong leadership and team-building skills.
- Experience dealing with the ports, managing drivers, with a thorough understanding of DOT driver regulations and safety standards.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in using dispatch and logistics software systems.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Experience with Truckmate software and HazMat is preferred, not a must.
