Electrical Service Manager
Key Responsibilities
The Electrical Service Manager is overall responsible for the Service Department for the Electrical Division at Odyssey Mechanical LLC and answers directly to the Electrical Division Manager/VP. The Electrical Service Manager is the primary customer account manager. As such, they are responsible for training, developing, and utilizing a team of electrical service technicians to meet customer needs and expectations in a professional, safe, and profitable manner.
Leadership
o Set and enforce standards of behavior for the department and the expectations of each individual role. Showing commitment, a strong work ethic, and a positive attitude can inspire your team to do the same.
o Supervise, mentor, train, and manage a team of electrical service technicians.
o Collaboration with leadership to develop and implement strategy for service department growth.
o Show technicians how to establish customer rapport and to recommend the right services and products without “upsell” pressure.
o Manage and drive sales strategies that lead to profitable results.
o Lead performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and support team members’ professional growth through coaching and development initiatives.
Technical
o Ability to be hands-on in the field when required.
o Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, submittals (all trades), shop drawings, and other job documents along with applicable codes to direct safe and proper electrical work that is “right the first time.”
o Both train and hold service technicians accountable on how to properly install, maintain, repair, and/or replace electrical components and systems.
o Provide sufficient safety training, tools and equipment that ensure a safe working environment for the service team.
Service
o Manage work orders, schedules and dispatching. Schedule the right technicians for the right jobs that match their current skills.
o Primary point of contact for customer accounts and to manage client satisfaction.
o Prepare accurate estimates and assist technicians in evaluating and estimating costs.
o Develop and update price book to support company initiatives toward flat rate pricing.
o Ensure complete service job financials start-to-finish (estimate, cost accounting, billing & collections) in accordance with company procedures.
o Be transparent in analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of the sales (and costs) of the electrical service department, to better develop and implement correct growth and improvement strategies.
o Assist dispatchers in the performance of their daily duties, as-needed.
o Support with after-hours calls (phone availability), as needed.
o Plan and lead after-hours shut-downs for de-energized work, outside of business hours, when required.
General
o Ensured compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and current electrical code to maintain a safe, secure, and efficient work environment.
o Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to enhance service offerings and maintain a competitive edge.
o Maintain the high reputation of professionalism and service of Odyssey Mechanical.
Qualifications
o Minimum of 10 years of experience in the electrical industry, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role in service.
o High school diploma or GED required, technical training or associate’s degree in a related field preferred
o Journeymen electrical card strongly preferred, master electrician’s license a plus
o Possess a current and valid driver’s license
o Must be able to pass a criminal background check and gain access to local military bases
o Must be able to pass drug screen
Skills
o Strong leadership and team management skills.
o Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
o Proficient in-service management software, scheduling tools, Microsoft Office Suite (required) and Service Titan (preferred).
o Effective communication and customer service skills.
o Outstanding teammate and collaborator with other service managers (mechanical, plumbing, etc.) and broader Odyssey team
Working Conditions
o Predominantly office-based with occasional field visits to job sites.
o Availability to respond to after-hours emergencies or urgent client needs. Occasional weekends “on-call” managerial support to any Odyssey MEP service tech called to the field.
o Requires lifting, bending, and standing as needed during site visits
