What are the responsibilities and job description for the Residential Paraprofessional position at Odyssey Youth Services?
Summary: The Paraprofessional (P.P.) provides direct care to Odyssey Youth Services residents in a residential setting. This includes providing assistance with personal care, housekeeping, and medication administration. The Paraprofessional will work closely with residents to support their daily living activities, assist in implementing individual treatment plans, and help foster a therapeutic environment. This role requires a strong understanding of trauma-informed care, behavior management, and individualized supervision plans.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Administer medications as prescribed by the physician.
Provide supervision and ensure the safety and well-being of residents.
Support the implementation of each resident's (PCP) and individualized treatment goals.
Collaborate with the treatment team to track and report on residents' progress, behavioral concerns, and compliance with treatment goals.
Assist in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques, following trauma-informed care practices.
Engage residents in recreational and therapeutic activities that encourage social, emotional, and cognitive development.
Assist residents with skill-building exercises, including communication, coping strategies, conflict resolution, and independent living skills.
Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.
Document all interactions, behaviors, and incidents per agency policies and state regulations.
Comply with all state, local, and organizational policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines.
Complete required paperwork, such as incident reports and progress notes.
Intervene with clients experiencing emotional or behavioral disturbance.
Direct care staff must possess effective conflict resolution skills
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
18 years of age or older.
CPR and First Aid certification.
CPI certification
Bloodborne Pathogens
Medication administration training.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and effectively.
Must pass a background check.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Physical Demands:
The Paraprofessional must be able to lift and move residents, as well as stand and walk for extended periods of time. The P.P. must also be able to work in a variety of settings, including the home and community.
Work Environment:
The P.P. will work in a residential group home setting. The work environment can be demanding, but it is also rewarding.

Pay: $13.00 - $14.00 per hour
