The Community Employment Specialist will be responsible for helping people with disabilities to find and maintain competitive employment.
This role involves connecting individuals seeking employment with local employers and providing assistance through assessment, job readiness training, job matching, and job coaching to help them achieve independence.
The goal is to increase the number of individuals with disabilities placed in integrated employment within Orange, Alamance, Randolph, and surrounding counties while decreasing the number of individuals in segregated employment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : The Community Employment Specialist requires a high school diploma or GED. Candidates must have experience working with individuals with Intellectual / Developmental Disabilities.
The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and able to work independently without direct on-site supervision. The role demands a candidate with exceptional patience, compassion, and the ability to communicate effectively, always ensuring professional interactions.
Certifications in CPR, first aid, and NCI are preferred but can be provided by the employer. Finally, candidates must successfully pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
