Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Paraprofessional to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting students with diverse learning needs, including those with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). This position requires a commitment to fostering an inclusive classroom environment and assisting in the educational development of students. A background in special education, childhood development, or related fields is highly desirable.
Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in implementing lesson plans and educational activities tailored to individual student needs.
- Support students with IEPs by providing one-on-one or small group instruction as directed by the classroom teacher.
- Facilitate communication between students and teachers, ensuring that all students understand classroom expectations and assignments.
- Utilize American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication methods to support Deaf education students as needed.
- Help maintain a positive and engaging classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Monitor student progress and behavior, providing feedback to teachers regarding student performance and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with educators to develop lesson plans that incorporate Montessori or other educational philosophies when appropriate.
- Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills related to special education and childhood development.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in special education or related fields is preferred.
- Experience working with children, particularly in a classroom setting, is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of IEP processes and special education regulations.
- Familiarity with childhood development principles and effective teaching strategies.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to connect with students of varying abilities.
- Understanding of Deaf education practices and proficiency in American Sign Language is a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment while demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.

Pay: $15.09 - $15.49 per hour
