What you will be doing:
Manage small work teams in a unionized, warehousing environment to unload, store, and deliver material to support production in an automotive manufacturing assembly plant.
Ensuring team safety; building teams and training / allocating manpower; driving and implementing continuous improvement solutions to improve product quality and reach throughput and cost targets; and ensuring team morale.
Coordinate all activities to achieve business metrics.
Job Responsibilities:
Provide a safe, secure, and engaging work environment that fosters team member involvement and creativity.
Embrace and practice OEM Leadership Principles
Provide feedback, coaching, and training to associates as needed.
Analyze root causes and execute countermeasures for daily work challenges while implementing safe work practices and preventative countermeasures.
Utilize kaizen activities to drive continuous process improvements.
Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and safety with team members, peers, and senior management.
Monitor and track parts receipts and deliveries.
Record and manage system requirements that communicate with the Assembly plants.
Ensure the shipping plan is met, analyzes issues with other roles, drives and implements continuous improvement activities.
Ensure a safe workplace, leads the Team to improve Safety in the area and enforces the use of mandated Safety tools and procedures.
Ensure the right allocation of the people on the job, manage absenteeism, trains and build teams.
Actively participate and lead kaizen project activities centered on Safety, Cost, Quality and Throughput improvements and waste reduction opportunities identified through cost deployment.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree
- 3 years of experience in logistics, operations or supply chain
- Experience leading teams (including performance management) in fast paced environment
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment/ machinery.
- Strong math skills and problem solving ability
- Better than average understanding of Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to work well with a team while also working independently.
- Detail oriented and strong ability to organize and prioritize.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Great team player, hard worker, self-starter with good work ethic.
Preferred Requirements:
- Previous experience working with the automotive industry in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with a logistics warehouse environment
- Previous management experience.
