As a Product Engineer specializing in Electrical Brake Systems , you will take the lead in the full functional integration, calibration, and validation of critical brake system components. You will be responsible for ensuring the achievement of vehicle functional objectives, meeting performance targets, and successfully managing the System-Level Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R) .
In this role, you will :
Lead the development of low and high friction brake system strategies, collaborating closely with suppliers to optimize performance and integration.
Develop and execute comprehensive plans to meet program milestones, regulatory compliance, and ensure the seamless launch of new and enhanced brake system features.
Spearhead cross-functional team efforts to integrate new Electronic Stability Control (ESC) features, including traction control and anti-lock braking (ABS), into both new and existing vehicle platforms.
Continuously assess product plans, platform bulletins, and evolving program directions, evaluating the potential impacts on vehicle calibration and overall performance.
Ensure alignment between suppliers, vehicle calibration teams, and internal stakeholders to drive successful integration and performance validation of the electrical brake systems.
What You’ll Need to Be Successful :
Essential Qualifications :
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME), Electrical Engineering (BSEE), Computer Engineering / Science, or Industrial Engineering from an ABET-accredited university .
3 years of experience working with electronic data collection / logging systems and diagnostic tools, such as Vector CANalyzer or similar data logging equipment. Driving experience is required.
Experience with Stability Control features , including traction control and anti-lock braking systems (preferred 5 years of experience).
Experience with regenerative braking systems is a plus.
Knowledge of Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing capabilities and processes is highly desirable.
Proven ability to drive vehicles at or above the limit of handling (experience in Formula SAE , BAJA , or equivalent motorsport / track experience preferred).
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure.
Demonstrated leadership capabilities with effective team-building skills, able to guide cross-functional teams and manage complex tasks.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Proficient in the use of MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) for reporting, data analysis, and presentation purposes.
Willingness to travel up to 25% to support winter test track locations in Michigan's UP , Arizona , or other remote locations, including potential international travel.
A valid Driver's License with no driving restrictions is required.
On-site availability is expected 3-5 days per week.
Preferred Qualifications :
Hands-on experience with vehicle calibration , system integration, and verification testing.
A deep understanding of brake system architectures and their integration with vehicle control systems .
Proven experience with cross-functional collaboration , particularly with suppliers and internal vehicle systems teams.
