The Vision Center of Excellence (VCE) is seeking a highly qualified Regional Vision Care Coordinator to provide critical program management support in advancing the delivery and coordination of comprehensive vision care across the Defense Health Agency (DHA). This position plays a pivotal role in ensuring Department of Defense (DoD) beneficiaries receive timely, effective, and integrated vision care, especially when care involves coordination between multiple specialists and facilities.

Overview
The Vision Center of Excellence (VCE) is seeking a highly qualified Regional Vision Care Coordinator to provide critical program management support in advancing the delivery and coordination of comprehensive vision care across the Defense Health Agency (DHA). This position plays a pivotal role in ensuring Department of Defense (DoD) beneficiaries receive timely, effective, and integrated vision care, especially when care involves coordination between multiple specialists and facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide program management support to the Vision Center of Excellence (VCE), ensuring alignment with strategic goals and vision care priorities within the DHA.
- Act as the central coordinator for vision care referrals, follow-ups, patient movement, and care transitions across Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs) and allied healthcare providers (e.g., VA).
- Coordinate multidisciplinary care (ophthalmology, optometry, vision rehabilitation) for patients requiring services not available at every MTF.
- Track and monitor performance metrics related to vision care delivery, patient outcomes, and referral success rates.
- Facilitate the transfer of patients between facilities and providers to ensure continuity of care and optimal clinical outcomes.
- Develop and maintain effective communication and cooperation among healthcare providers, administrators, and patients.
- Support strategic initiatives and special projects aligned with DoD vision health priorities.
- Minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience as a health care coordinator, social worker, case manager, or registered nurse.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex healthcare systems and patient coordination workflows.
- Experience with contract management or program oversight responsibilities is required.
- Strong understanding of the Defense Health Agency (DHA) or similar integrated healthcare delivery systems preferred.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively across disciplines and with multiple stakeholders in a high-paced, mission-driven environment.
- Prior experience with DoD or VA health systems.
- Familiarity with vision care specialties and referral processes.
- Background in healthcare quality improvement or performance tracking.
