Medicolegal Investigator - Field Examinations - Boston

Job Responsibilities : Travel to funeral homes and crematories to conduct investigations and examinations to authorize cremations.Investigate circumstances of deaths within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to assist in the determination of cause and manner of death as well as identification of deceased.Request and review medical records related documents and radiographic images.Interview family members of the deceased, members of law enforcement, first responders, and medical professionals.Provide written reports directly to Medical Examiners and assist Pathologists, as necessary.Interact daily with OCME staff and funeral directors.Interact with law enforcement agencies.May meet with families of the deceased to confirm visual or forensic identification.Travel to locations outside of the OCME to conduct external examinations, obtain photographs, and collect specimens for toxicological testing from human remains.Participate in daily or weekly meetings with Medical Examiner and CME or DCME staff to discuss findings of examinations and investigations conducted.Provide training of new MLI staff under the direction of the Chief of Investigations, as assigned.Must be able to maneuver deceased remains. Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs.Other duties, as assigned.Qualifications : MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS : Applicants must have at least (A) four (4) years of full-time or, equivalent part-time, professional, professional internship, administrative, supervisory, or managerial experience in business administration, business management, public administration, public management, clinical administration, or clinical management or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and substitutions below.Substitutions : A certificate in a relevant or related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.An Associate's degree in a related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.A Bachelor's degree in a related field may be substituted for two (2) years of the required experience.A Graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for three (3) years of the required experience.A Doctorate degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience.Comprehensive Benefits : When you embark on a career with the Commonwealth, you are offered an outstanding suite of employee benefits that add to the overall value of your compensation package.
