Job Description
Additionally, this position will leverage large language models to assist with communications tasks, such as content generation and optimization, and familiarity with LLM prompting is a plus. This part-time position is ideal for a college student looking to gain practical experience in the field of internal government communications, policies, and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- SharePoint Management: Create, organize, and maintain accurate and accessible content on the agency's SharePoint platform.
- Website Maintenance: Assist in managing the agency's public-facing website by creating and editing general page content, including event announcements, calendars, and other content requested by agency staff. Conduct image research to find impactful graphics that enhance the website's visual appeal and user experience.
- Forms Creation: Collaborate with the communications team to edit and create PDF forms.
- General Editing: Provide support in proofreading and editing various communications materials to ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to the agency's brand guidelines.
- Explore the possibility of leveraging large language models to assist with communications tasks, such as content generation and optimization, form creation and management, and image generation.
- Accessibility: Assist in developing and implementing agency guidelines for NYC Local Law 12 of 2023 and the Department of Justice ADA Rule of 2024 regarding accessible web content, mobile applications, and digital communications.
Preferred Skills:
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university, pursuing a degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field.
- Familiarity with large language models and experience with LLM prompting is a plus.
- An interest in government affairs and public service is preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with content management systems (e.g., SharePoint, basic web content management systems).
- Experience with Adobe software for forms creation.
- Basic understanding of web content best practices.
- Familiarity with editing techniques and attention to detail.
- Ability to conduct image research and select impactful graphics for website enhancement.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as a respectful, creative team player.

Minimum Qualifications
For Assignment Level I:
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school.
For Assignment Level II (Information Technology):
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or closely related field, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study.
For Assignment Level III (Information Technology Fellow):
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or other area relevant to the information technology project(s) assigned, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study. Appointments to this Assignment Level will be made by the Technology Steering Committee through the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications.
SPECIAL NOTE
Maximum tenure for all Assignment Levels in the title of College Aide is 6 years. No student shall be employed more than half-time in any week in which classes in which the student is enrolled are in session. Students may be employed full-time during their vacation periods.

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment.
