JOB SUMMARY/ DESCRIPTION
The Osceola County Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller is looking to onboard a highly motivated Accountant, that is willing to work in a culture driven by public service. We are recruiting a professional that will support our organization with the goal of transforming and modernizing processes by leveraging technological solutions.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs general cost accounting and other related duties in the department.
- Prepares financial reports and accounting statements.
- Generates summary sheets for use by supervisor or auditor.
- Proofs accounting reports for clerical accuracy.
- Allocates expenditures to correct accounts according to departmental procedures.
- Maintains the general ledger.
- Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.
- Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
- Reconciles customer accounts and manages accounts receivable collections.
- Verifies payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
- Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
- Files required tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
- As appropriate, coordinates with software vendor to maintain accounting software system; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Thorough understanding of bookkeeping practices and procedures and the ability to train others in related practices and procedures.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Proficient in Finance Plus.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- One (1) year of experience in accounting and/or finance, preferably with local, state, and federal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements applicable to the work.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Sitting for long periods of time
- Talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motion
- Must be ablet to lift up to 15 lbs.
