Summary This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General, Office of Management and Policy. Responsibilities This position is for a Physical Security Specialist located in the Office of Management and Policy (OMP), Office of Inspector General (OIG), Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Special Projects Oversees or completes special projects as assigned, including those designed to promote and develop oversight and compliance of all internal operations. Such projects may involve need for information and / or analysis of emerging concerns related to the general administration and / or management of the OIG. Physical Security Plans and directs projects to implement the enterprise physical security solution for OIG facilities nationwide. This work requires coordination with the OMP Facilities Management Team, various groups within the OIG, Department, and other Federal agencies, as well as contractors, engineers, and other external stakeholders. Makes recommendations for program including establishing systems and equipment standards, policies, guidelines, and standard operating procedures to support the physical security program. Designs, develops, evaluates, and oversees the implementation of the physical access control system at OIG offices, and manages the overall project schedule, coordinating with appropriate parties. Identifies long-range program needs, analyzing alternative strategies for meeting those needs, and recommending appropriate methods of acquisition. Includes determining costs associated with developing and sustaining the program and ensuring proper budget allocations are made when needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following : Experience in Leading as a technical expert in projects to resolve problems in existing security systems and emergency management programs; and Experience in Making recommendations to address security problems and improve procedures; and Experience in Recommending and managing the implementation of electronic physical access control systems from design through installation. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
