We are excited to offer this terrific opportunity in the leadership of the Office of Medical Education. Children’s National Hospital is seeking a dynamic leader to serve as the next Director of Medical Education.
About the position
The Office of Medical Education oversees the training of approximately 1800 individuals yearly across the medical education continuum, including:
- Serving as the core medical student pediatric clerkship site for both the George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences and the Howard University College of Medicine,
- 47 graduate medical education residency and fellowship training programs, and
- Close to 1000 visiting medical student, resident, and fellow trainees from across the nation.
The successful candidate will have robust financial and budgetary expertise along with demonstrated leadership in both medical education and project management. The Director of Medical Education serves a crucial role in managing, advancing and innovating all Medical Education programs at CNH. Reporting directly to the Vice-Chair for Medical Education, the Director of Medical Education serves as the administrative leader of the Office of Medical Education, which oversees all educational activities along the continuum from undergraduate medical education (UME), to graduate medical education (GME), to continuing medical education (CME). Yearly, this includes approximately 500 medical and physician assistant students, 300 employed resident and fellow trainees (in 46 GME programs), and 1000 visiting trainees on rotational experiences throughout the CNH enterprise.
The Director of Medical Education is responsible for managing and providing leadership direction for all administrative functions and business operations related to medical education programs, supporting the overall quality and effectiveness of the programs, the strategic educational and operational goals of the institution, and ensuring compliance with all institutional policies and LCME, ACGME, and CME/Joint Accreditation national standards. The Director will have primary responsibility for planning, budgeting and operations, and will integrate and coordinate the operations of the Office of Medical Education with other elements of the CNH enterprise including Compliance, Finance, Legal, Information Services, Human Resources, and Occupational Health.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree BA, BS, BBA, BSN, or equivalent (Required)
- Master's Degree MBA, M.Ed., MHA, or equivalent (Required)
- Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Doctorate in education, healthcare administration, or related field
- (Preferred) 7 years Progressive management experience in healthcare administration, including at least 5 years specifically in medical education administration
- (Required) 10 years Above and leadership expertise in healthcare administration or medical education (Preferred)
