The Organized Crime Commission has been tasked by the Governor to assess and to evaluate current efforts by law enforcement throughout New Mexico to combat organized crime in the areas of Human Trafficking, Drug Trafficking, and Gun Smuggling. We will use our agents and analysts to lead efforts against criminal organizations throughout the state. The Organized Crime Commission is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer and is seeking applicants for a Special Agent position in Albuquerque. Under the supervision of the Special Agent in Charge, the Special Agent is a sworn law enforcement officer.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: This position requires knowledge of the criminal justice system, and the ability to draft documentation such as warrants, reports, and tactical operation plans. This position also requires familiarity with the procedures involved in safely and effectively affecting arrests of individuals. Familiarity with police patrol, surveillance and operational tactics is also required. Strong interpersonal communication skills with a focus on community policing relations; as well as the ability to communicate effectively and follow directions and policies within the assigned unit.

Requirements: Associates degree in criminology, criminal justice, police science or a related field, or two (2) years work experience in related field, plus New Mexico Peace Officer Certification (or eligible to complete a certification by waiver within the first year of employment with the Organized Crime Commission.)

Preferred Qualifications: New Mexico Peace Officer Certification, plus five (5) years work experience, education and/or training in law enforcement; investigations or related field. Federal, military, and/or intelligence experience are also preferred.

Working Conditions: Work is performed both in the office and in the field investigations; considerable physical effort may be required. May be required to be on-call during non-working hours, at the discretion of the Special Agent in Charge. May encounter dangerous situations. The Special Agent will be authorized a take home vehicle for the sole purpose of work use. This position is typically an 8-5 Monday-Friday with some exceptions. Numerous training opportunities are available internally and externally. Special Agent may be asked to travel up to 10% of their schedule.

This is a grant funded position with a term of at least two (2) years. Employment is dependent upon funding. Salary is commensurate with experience.
