Responsible for designing, implementing, and facilitating a variety of therapeutic programs to meet the ever-changing needs of mentally ill and developmentally disabled patients. Planning, scheduling, and facilitating educational/therapeutic programs for the patients in support of active treatment delivery. Assigned to assist, oversee, and instruct educational and therapeutic based programs. Provide therapeutic group recommendations, rehabilitation assessments of patients, and report/document patient activity/progress. Provide individual attention and assistance as required to meet the varied needs and abilities of the learners, to ensure that all benefit from the instruction. Performs related duties as required. Performs related duties as assigned. Mandatory overtime may be required. Schedules are subject to change depending on the operational needs of the hospital and patients. Applicants selected for employment must successfully complete a chemical urinalysis and breath analysis drug screening test. All employees are subject to drug testing for probable cause as set forth in agency and bureau policies. Applicants selected must successfully complete a background check. Sharpe, Jr. Hospital holds accreditation from The Joint Commission and certification by the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS). The hospital offers a wide range of services to patients either committed to the hospital through civil commitment or, in the case of forensic patients, ordered through the judicial system. Through ongoing collaboration with West Virginia University’s Department of Behavioral Medicine & Psychiatry, a variety of medical and clinical professionals partner with the hospital’s own staff to work diligently with patients to achieve a smooth transition back to the community after discharge.
