Nature of Work
The Office of Shared Administration (OSA) is seeking applicants for the Payroll Specialist position within the Office of Human Resources Management. This position is responsible for processing payroll transactions for OSA, as well as the Departments of Health, Health Facilities, and Human Services.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Ensuring accurate and timely entry of employee payroll data, including direct deposits, tax withholdings, insurance deductions, etc., in wvOASIS, the State of West Virginia's finance, human resources management, and payroll system.
- Reviewing and approving electronic employee time cards in UKG (formerly Kronos), initiating corrective actions when necessary.
- Generating various reports utilizing wvOASIS Business Intelligence for the purpose of verifying accurate pay, including retirement and tax deductions.
- Reviewing and verifying annual increment pay for employees.
- Preparing, reviewing, and/or reconciling workers’ compensation, employee's compensation buy-backs, adjustments to wages and labor, retirement and state tax reports.
- Tracking all payroll changes and processes financial documents through the statewide accounting system for dismissals, interest payments, and deposits.
- Providing assistance and customer service to on-boarding, current, and former employees regarding payroll related inquiries.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate must possess excellent computer skills and pay strong attention to detail. Preference may be given to candidates with previous payroll experience.
Minimum Qualifications
Training: Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
Substitution: Candidates may substitute related experience for the required education at the rate of one (1) year of experience for thirty (30) semester hours of education.
Experience:Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid professional human resources, payroll, bookkeeping or accounting experience.
Substitution: Graduate coursework from a regionally accredited college or university may substitute for the required experience at the rate of one (1) year of experience for fifteen (15) semester hours of education.
Note: A valid driver's license may be required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35,702.00 - $61,628.00 per year
