GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Performs routine and specialized security duties, providing maximum security for employees and property for the Office of the Attorney General’s (OAG) Child Support (CS) State Office Facility. Work involves providing excellent customer service to all employees, vendors, and visitors. Work is performed under supervision of the lead security officer, facilities manager, as well as daily instructions transmitted from other security officers.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS
Performs customer service duties for all staff, visitors, and vendors in a helpful and timely manner
Conducts thorough and efficient patrols of state property; monitors the temperatures of facility’s LAN rooms to protect servers; notes any safety hazards or issues that are recognized; and maintains familiarity with the building, grounds, and occupants
Enforces and maintains knowledge of agency security policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and special instructions pertaining to persons entering and leaving buildings; programs access badges for agency employees, temporary employees, and vendors according to the proper access level for each person
Views, scans, and operates manual camera functions to detect, monitor, and record incidents and/or suspicious activities
Composes daily/weekly incident and alarm reports within the required time frame; ensures that all reports submitted are legible, clear, concise, and accurate
Takes appropriate actions to prevent injury of personnel and property loss due to theft, vandalism, fire, and burglary
Notifies proper authorities immediately in cases of serious verbal and physical threats, injuries, illnesses, or unsafe acts of employees, visitors, and vendors
Investigates all reports of disturbances or suspicious circumstances and notifies supervisor(s); investigates warnings or alarms received that are in the scope of duty from multiple statewide locations
Assists in developing policies and regulations
Conducts impartial inquiries regarding safety incidents involving state employees, visitors, and vendors
Performs related work as assigned
Maintains relevant knowledge necessary to perform essential job functions
Attends work regularly in compliance with agreed-upon work schedule
Ensures security and confidentiality of sensitive and/or protected information
Complies with all agency policies and procedures, including those pertaining to ethics and integrity
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent
Experience: One year of full-time experience in the following (or closely related) fields: security officer, military service, or law enforcement; may substitute two years (sixty credit hours) from an accredited college or university
Knowledge of emergency reporting procedures
Skill in promoting and maintaining cooperative working relationship with co-workers, supervisors, manager, other agency personnel, and the general public
Skill in handling multiple tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines
Skill in effective oral and written communication
Skill in exercising sound judgment and effective decision making
Ability to work any shift including nights, weekends, and holidays (Initial shifts may include those hours outside of normal business hours, 8:00am -5:00pm, Monday through Friday)
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license
Ability to receive and respond positively to constructive feedback
Ability to work cooperatively with others in a professional office environment
Ability to provide excellent customer service
Ability to work in person at assigned OAG work location, perform all assigned tasks at designated OAG work space within OAG work location, and perform in-person work with coworkers (e.g., collaborating, training, mentoring) for the entirety of every work week (unless on approved leave)
Ability to arrange for personal transportation for business-related travel
Ability to work more than 40 hours as needed and in compliance with the FLSA
Ability to lift and relocate 30 lbs.
Ability to travel (including overnight travel) up to 5%
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Certifications: Current certification in First Aid, Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use
Certifications: Certification from the Texas Department of Public Safety-Private Security Bureau for Level 1, 2, and/or 3 status
