David Rawlings, Chapter 13 Trustee, is accepting applications from qualified individuals for employment as a staff attorney in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The staff attorney assists the Trustee in complying with all provisions of the United States Bankruptcy Code and Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure.
Responsibilities
- Represent the Chapter 13 Trustee in Federal Bankruptcy Court, including litigation
- Conduct 341 meetings of creditors on behalf of the Trustee
- Review various debtor and creditor pleadings for possible trustee objections and/or responses
- Perform legal research and draft legal pleadings
Skills
- Active Mississippi law license and in good standing with the MS Bar
- Licensed to practice in the United States District Court and Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Mississippi
- The ability to travel to various bankruptcy courts in southern Mississippi (Hattiesburg, Natchez, Gulfport, Jackson)
- Ability to handle a large caseload with time-sensitive deadlines
- Proficiency in basic math functions
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
- Strong organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple cases simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Bankruptcy experience is helpful, but all qualified attorney applicants will be considered (training can be provided)

Pay: $85,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
