This role requires working on-site five days a week, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional weekend shifts based on departmental needs.
Subject to early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays at times, depending upon the project or workload.
Salary:
Commensurate with experience, based on 26 pay periods.
Physical Demands And Environmental Exposure:
Most assignments will be performed in an office, meeting, or operations command center environment, but some field work may be required. May be required to work extended work hours during activation of disaster recovery operations for an unspecified length of time (varies based on the extent of the event).
This position requires bending, stooping, and lifting to 25 lbs., frequent walking, standing, sitting, reaching, and ascending/descending stairs.

- Oversee and manage the processing of records requests, ensuring compliance with the Texas Public Information Act and Harris County policies.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for internal, public, and intergovernmental records inquiries.
- Supervise the team’s daily activities, including scanning, filing, and maintaining vital records in both physical and digital formats.
- Develop and implement records management policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Coordinate and monitor responses to open records requests, ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Utilize GovQA and other records management systems for tracking and maintaining data integrity.
- Provide leadership during emergency or high-priority requests, ensuring rapid and accurate responses.
- Conduct training sessions to ensure staff proficiency in records management systems and processes.
- Collaborate with various departments to support audits, compliance checks, and special projects.
- Prepare performance reports and presentations for senior management, providing insights into records management activities and improvements.
- Serve as a backup in the absence of senior leadership, ensuring continuity of operations.
- Manage physical records, including organization, retrieval, and secure storage solutions.
- Assist with any other daily tasks as needed to support the department or the Records Division effectively.

- Associate’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Five (5) years ofprofessional experience in records management, customer service, administrative work, or related fields.
- Two (2) years of supervisory experience in managing records requests, preferably under the Texas Public Information Act, and in a customer service capacity.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with imaging software, engineering documents, and records management tools like GovQA.
- Ability to adapt to dynamic projects, manage physical records, and maintain attention to detail.

- Prior experience with GovQA and a deep understanding of the Texas Government Code and Texas Public Information Act.
