Summary The Department of the Interior is devoted to protecting and preserving the natural resources of this great nation, including National Parks, Landmarks, and the well-being of communities, including those of Native American, Alaska Natives and affiliated Islanders. Responsibilities This position is located within the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Policy, Management and Budget (AS-PMB), Deputy Assistant Secretary for Administrative Services (DAS-AS), Business and Administrative Services Division (BASD) in Washington, DC. At the full performance level (GS-11) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following : 1. This position supports the BASD Regulations Team Lead and the PMB BASD Correspondence Control Unit (BASD CCU) to ensure Regulations, Agendas and correspondence are entered into the Document Tracking System (DTS), routed to the proper executives for review and surname. 2. Ensures a continued understanding and application of the regulations and policies associated with time and attendance of political, career, leadership and senior executives, review and process all time and attendance actions for offices, staff and senior executives. 3. Conducts special assignments involving the selection, completion, and summarization of data used in reports, meetings crossing organizational lines, conferences, hearings before congressional committees, and briefings for management officials. 4. Serves as liaison between management officials and subordinates, speaking with the authority delegated by the executives and does so in a professional and timely manner. Tracks and follows up on pending assignments for senior leadership to assure appropriate, timely responses and those deadlines are met. 5. Gathers information related to a wide variety of program issues and new initiatives and assembles and analyzes this data as it relates to the needs of the office. The incumbent prepares briefing books for speeches and meetings. Additionally, the incumbent coordinates projects done by others, gathers and creates briefing materials for the executives from materials provided by others. The incumbent reviews high priority documents and uses refined judgement to determine whether high-level executive's time and attention is required. 6. Maintains effective interaction with all administrative functional areas for offices and managers supported. These functional areas include budget, finance, space, telecommunications, information technology, and property. 7. Processes Federal Register Notices through the Document Tracking System, ensuring all surnames are received. 8. Ensures the PMB Office has obligated funds prior to transmitting notices to the Federal Register 9. Logs federal registers on a tracking spreadsheet. 10. Assists with Unified Agendas, 90-day Lists and Data Calls. 11. Processes Government Publishing Office (GPO) Print Orders through GPO Publish. 12. Processes new GPO Express applications and annual renewals. 13. Attends Publishing Council meetings and Information Collections meetings. The Office of the Secretary, Assistant Secretary Policy, Management & Budget, Administrative Service Support Staff has determined that the duties of this position are telework eligible. Salary Information GS-09 : $69,923 - $90,898 per annum. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level. This vacancy may be used to fill additional positions as vacancies become available. Requirements Conditions of Employment You must be a U.S. Citizen. Degree : Master's or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree OR L.L.B. OR J.D., if related. TRANSCRIPTS ARE REQUIRED. OR B. Combination of education and experience course work as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. (2) Specialized Experience To qualify for the GS-09, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience : 1) Assisting in gathering information related to a wide variety of program issues, new initiatives, and assembling and analyzing data as it relates to the needs of the office 2) Serving as liaison between management officials and subordinates, speaking with the authority delegated by executives 3) Coordinating with senior executives sufficient to reviewing correspondence submissions; and 4) Interacting with all administrative functional areas to include budget, finance, space, telecommunications, and information technology.
