The Major Investigations Unit (MIU) of the Office of the State’s Attorney for Baltimore City is responsible for the investigation and prosecution of gang activity, complex homicides, large scale narcotics conspiracies, and more in Baltimore City. The MIU collaborates with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to apprehend the most violent offenders in Baltimore City.
The Major Investigations Unit blends teams of investigators from more than a dozen local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies and tasks them with building investigations into the most violent organized groups in Baltimore City.
Duties Of The Deputy Division Chief
The Deputy Division Chief will assist the Division Chief in the execution of his/her duties. The Deputy Division Chief will be responsible for all stages of criminal prosecution, with the additional responsibility of training and managing Assistant State’s Attorneys. The Deputy Division Chief will also serve as the primary point of contact for the Major Investigations Unit
on various assignments including large scale violent and wiretap investigations.
Qualifications
The ideal applicant will have at least eight (8) years of criminal litigation experience in both state and federal courts and experience utilizing complex investigative techniques including, wiretaps,
undercover operations, homicide trial experience and the use of the Grand Jury. Applicants must demonstrate experience with complex criminal investigations and prosecutions, a passion for investigative and trial work, superior oral and written advocacy skills, good judgment, and the ability to function in a demanding work environment. Applicants must demonstrate strong abilities to build and maintain relationships with victims, witnesses, and law enforcement and a desire to supervise Assistant State’s Attorneys. Maryland Bar membership, or the eligibility to waive in immediately, is required.
Compensation: Starting salary is $93,622 or commensurate with experience.
