Position Summary
Reporting to the Operations Director, the SHS Coordinator II is responsible for promotion, coordination and maintenance of the Safety, Health and Sustainability (SHS) of the plant and buying point locations to ensure a safe and accident-free workplace as well as the preservation of the environment. The SHS Coordinator II, under the direction of the Operations Director, will provide training to managers and employees in work site SHS practices. This position will periodically inspect the organization’s facilities to detect existing or potential accident hazards and determine corrective or preventive measures. In collaboration with the Operations Director, will follow-up to ensure compliance. This position will assist in the investigation of workplace accidents, root cause analysis and monitor corrective action implementation. The SHS Coordinator II will maintain accident reports required by regulatory agencies and will works with fellow SHS members to reduce injuries and lost work time. The SHS Coordinator II will collaborate with the Operations Director to ensure and maintain environmental compliance and preservation of the locations.

Position Responsibilities
- Conduct plant inspections to identify and correct unsafe conditions in accordance with OSHA regulations and ofi’s standards and guidance. Issue work orders and follow-up to correct conditions.
- Perform post-accident investigations to identify cause, exposure, providing effective feedback
- Develop and present safety trainings, skill development, tail-gate meetings in
- Participate in emergency response activities including planning, demonstrations, and improvements
- Ensure Hazard Communication and Globally Harmonized System (GHS) program oversight, inspections, and follow-up in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Coordinate SHS programs for the plant and buying point facilities to ensure a safe and accident-free work environment
- Participate in SHS Committee and other related Committee activities
- Ensure all records are kept in accordance with State and Federal regulations including OSHA logs and training documents
- Support Human Resources and Plant Manager on Workers’ Compensation cases witha focus on returning employees to work following workplace injuries
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
- OSHA 10/30 General Industry Training
- Two to five years’ experience with a diverse employee population
- Food manufacturing experience preferred not required
- Primary work location is in a manufacturing plant
- Ability to travel and work overnight up to 10% is required
- Valid driver’s license
- Demonstrated skill in training, development and implementation of health and SHS programs is required
- Applied knowledge and working understanding of OSHA, regulatory compliance, experience with inspections, incident investigations, process safety, contractor safety, SHS training, hazard reviews, and job SHS analysis is required
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, SharePoint is required
- Resilience, persistence, and optimism is required
- Strong oral and written communication skills are required
- Ability to train on the use of diagnostic equipment/tools. Ability to write in English routine maintenance reports or correspondence
