Position Summary
Reporting to Production Manager, the Internal SME collaborate with line leads, supervisors and stakeholders to offer guidance, solve complex problems related to equipment set up and adjustments, make informed decisions in terms of equipment adjustments, and ensure the accuracy and quality of work within their area of expertise. The Internal SME will oversee the Daily changeover Operations of all the lines, to include but not limited to centerline parameters, changeover times and procedures and to guide the line lead on how to improve the cleaning and changeovers time of the lines.
Position Responsibilities
CIL – Own and coach execution of the Cleaning and Inspection routines and deep cleans schedules to ensure machines operate at peak performance. Owning the routines also entails making sure routines stay current and are improved as appropriate.
Centerline – Perform as champion for the centerline program. Assist with development of centerline checklists, collection of optimum machine settings, lock / pin adjustment points as appropriate. Coach operators in the execution of the program, which includes : coach operators in the on time checks against the Centerline checklists to ensure machine is on centerline, coach operators filling out Centerline Change Forms when adjustments are required, participate in problem-solving activities to get back on centerline
Change-overs – Own the Changeover SMED checklists, coach line leaders and operators in the proper selection of the type of changeover, executing the changeovers per the established process, monitor meeting changeover standard times and participate in problem-solving when there are deviations.
Waste Minimization Program – Assist in the gathering of waste data, coach operations in the performance of tests, weighing, and other data input activities related to waste, and participate in problem-solving activities related to waste minimization.
Short interval controls – Coach line leads and supervisors in usage of the visual boards and monitoring of short interval controls to drive the right behaviors and sense of urgency on the lines including, filling out the visual boards, executing the escalation process reliably to get lines back up and running as soon as possible. Own the design of the visual boards.
Audit line leads work standards and provide recommendations for service level improvements of our processes to ensure optimal performance.
Support teams to include job specific training and documentation.
Delegate work and responsibility to Leads and operators in terms of changeovers, cleaning and safety procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned
Position Requirements
- High School Diploma is required. Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Four (4) years Production, Equipment Operation, experience is required.
- Ability to work with a positive attitude in a fast pace production environment is required.
- Experience in a manufacturing and / or Food Safety environment is preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills are required.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively.
The pay for this role in the state of California ranges from $23.90 to $31.10 and is based on the position responsibilities and geographic location. Actual pay within this range may be determined based on candidate’s experience, qualifications and / or other determining factors.
