Position Summary
Reporting to Warehouse Manager, the Packaging Supervisor is responsible for coordinating the operation of our packaging / warehouse location and people. This position will plan and assign work, implement policies and procedures and coordinate improvements in equipment, operating procedures and working conditions. The Packaging Supervisor will act in accordance with the laws and regulations, by practicing ofi values, ensuring compliance of policies, procedures, and plant rules.
The ideal candidate for the Packaging Supervisor role will have a proven success record with leading and motivating teams. They should be a self-starter, flexible and reliable. Ability to lead a team, while also completing other demands / projects will be required. A successful candidate will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment with competing demands and priorities.
Position Responsibilities
- Responsible for the management and direct oversight of the processes in packaging and the warehouse.
- Guide and direct the work assignments of Boardman hourly port employees which includes temporary employees.
- Assist with interviewing and selecting candidates, onboarding, and training of new employees.
- Manage daily expectations and provide ongoing feedback on performance to team members.
- Execute activities within the scope of the Packaging Supervisorto achieve departmental objectives, support business strategy, and achieve or beat the annual budget.
- Maintain and ensure effective communication with the Warehouse Manager and other department leaders. Ensure feedback is provided to appropriate leadership on performance, progress, issues and concerns, and financial variances that may impact goals or budget.
- Maintain real-time communication with other operational department leaders ensuring problem-free operations in Warehouse, Maintenance and Facilities.
- Partner with Quality to ensure the requirements of the Quality Systems, Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) rules, and that all production areas comply with audit / inspection expectations.
- Ensure applicable operational processes are followed. Proactively review the established processes, identify improvement opportunities, and make recommendations to the Warehouse Manager.
- Ensure production areas are compliant with the established Internal Control System. Support audit, inspections, and inquiries.
- Advise on packaging plan to meet inventory and shipping goals and advise promptly if issues arise.
- Perform accident investigations, document findings and share findings with appropriate teams.
- Monitor and manage applicable Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to sustain and improve operation areas as necessary, this can include but is not limited to : Performance Metrics, Safety, Quality, Service, Efficiency, Waste, Cost, and Savings.
- Actively observe and monitor materials and labor to achieve optimum capacity and overall cost reduction.
- Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and local regulations regarding occupational health and food safety.
- Assign, adjust and create process orders in SAP.
- Check and verify orders in packaging plan are being followed to specifications
- Track daily packaging output.
- Perform food safety inspections, monitor, and assist sanitation / QA employees to ensure proper sanitation (HAACP and GMPs).
- Participate in daily meetings to report on safety, quality, packed and shipped numbers for the Port location.
- Ensure the building is maintained in such a manner as to protect inventory from damage, vandalism or food safety.
- Coordinate, assist and conduct performance evaluations for hourly team members.
- Review daily packaging operations with packaging lead, QA representative and material handlers with respect to overall efficiency, product requirement and current established packaging schedule.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
