Position Summary
Reporting to the Buying Point Manager, the Warehouse Inspector will be responsible for all peanut warehousing needs across Olam Peanut Shelling buying points.
Position Responsibilities
- Responsible for all warehouse needs including pre-harvest inspections to make sure the warehouse is ready for new crop; storage inspection including checking for infestations while the crop is being stored; post-harvest inspection to ensure the warehouse is properly emptied and ready for the next pre-harvest inspection.
- Responsible for alerting buying point managers of any damage or issues with their specific warehouses.
- Responsible for bailout operation which includes effective communication to buying point personnel regarding bailout scheduling, equipment scheduling, renting equipment, and transfer of equipment from each buying point location.
- Monitor all farmer stock equipment (elevators, conveyor systems, pulleys etc.) during harvest to ensure peanut quality and no damage to product.
- Monitor drying conditions for optimal temperature of peanuts for quality control.
- Responsible for lining up all warehouse fumigations, chemical orders, etc.
- Monitor bailouts and farmer stock movement at all buying points, with the goal of minimizing shrink (loss) and damage of farmer stock throughout the process.
- Assist the Farmer Stock Procurement Team in developing and implementing annual farmer stock segregation planning.
- Assist in recommending best management practices regarding farmer stock storage and handling to the OPS shelling operations team.
- Assist in scheduling transportation (freight) from each buying point to OPS shelling plants.
- Responsible for communicating warehoused farmer stock conditions throughout the management chain, not limited to and including BP managers, Farmer Stock team, Shelling operation teams, and senior management.
- Assist in transporting treated seed samples from OPS to Georgia Department of Agriculture Seed Lab.
- Assist in quality preservation of the seed produced in the OPS peanut seed program by ensuring the shelled seed goods are maintained free of infestation during storage before being treated and shipped to customers.
- Ability to work seven days a week during harvest.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
