We currently seek an Automation & Controls Engineering Intern in our division located in Somerset, NJ to help support critical production equipment. The Automation and Controls Engineering Intern will work closely with Production and Automation Engineering team to update the programing of safety PLCs to current revisions for older high power laser test stations to implement features available on newer stations.

Key Qualifications Include
- Currently working toward an Automations and Controls Engineering degree
- Lab Automation and computer skills
- Familiarity with Unitronics PLC safety controllers and ladder logic
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient with MS Office, Word, and Excel
- Maintain discretion when working with confidential and proprietary information
- Adherence to Company safety policies and procedures
- Conform to the OFS “Standards of Conduct” document
- Study existing PLC ladder logic on newer test stations, to understand laser test conditions and safety features and programing conventions
- Understand and document equipment differences between newer and older laser test stations
- Write PLC ladder logic to implement required safety features
- Work with Production and Engineering teams to test newly implemented PLC safety controller
- Document PLC code
- Provide a final report-out presentation on project results
