CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE - FISCAL OPERATIONS DIVISION

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Full-Time, Eligible for Benefits

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE

This position performs a variety of routine clerical accounting duties, including processing payments, preparing bank
deposits, and responding to customer complaints and inquiries. Receives general supervision from management staff.

CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE - ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Interact with customers by phone, in person, and electronically to answer questions, maintain billing information,

explain policies and procedures, and provide customer service communications.

• Record payment arrangements; work with customers in the collection process.
• Troubleshoot customer accounts.
• Investigate accounts for illegal usage.,
• Track and monitor customer accounts shut off for non-payment.
• Batch entry and reconciliation of payments.
• Perform other clerical duties to support the functions of the department to which assigned.
• Enter data from various sources; input corrections and updates; verify data for accuracy and completeness; file

documentation.

• Assist in the compilation of reports.
• Operate a variety of modern office equipment including computers and copiers.
• Retrieve, sort, and distribute incoming and outgoing correspondence.
• Participate in safety and risk management activities; take action to reduce liability to the city.
• Attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position. Employee is required to work as a team and

frequently meet with co-workers and supervisors; employee is required to communicate in-person with the public
during office hours; employee is required to use on-site equipment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• At least one year of financial sector customer service experience.
• High school diploma or its equivalent.
• Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities may be qualifying.
