Middle School Head Baseball Coach

Ogden CSD is seeking a dedicated and passionate Middle School Baseball Coach to lead and develop our baseball program for the upcoming summer. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the sport, the ability to teach fundamental skills, and a commitment to fostering teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship among middle school student-athletes. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with coaching experience or a passion for mentoring young athletes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coaching & Instruction:

  • Plan, organize, and conduct daily practices focused on skill development and team strategies.
  • Teach players the fundamentals of baseball, including hitting, fielding, pitching, base running, and game situations.
  • Prepare athletes for competition through appropriate drills, exercises, and knowledge of the game.

• Team Leadership & Development:

  • Create a positive, inclusive, and supportive team environment that fosters personal growth and teamwork.
  • Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to athletes at all skill levels.
  • Monitor the physical and mental well-being of athletes, providing guidance and support as needed.

• Game Preparation & Strategy:

  • Develop game strategies and align practice sessions with competition needs.
  • Coordinate and manage game-day logistics, including player rotations, team alignments, and substitutions.
  • Ensure athletes are prepared for competition through proper warm-ups, mental readiness, and team cohesion.

• Communication & Collaboration:

  • Maintain open and regular communication with student-athletes, parents, and the athletic director regarding team progress, schedules, and expectations.
  • Work with other coaches, school staff, and administrators to ensure the baseball program is aligned with school policies and values.

• Administrative Duties:

  • Assist with scheduling practices and games, ensuring compliance with league or district regulations.
  • Help track player attendance and ensure proper documentation is maintained (e.g., medical forms, permissions, and other required paperwork).

• Team Management:

  • Promote sportsmanship, respect, and integrity both on and off the field.
  • Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, and team events, ensuring their safety at all times.
  • Foster relationships with athletes and encourage the development of leadership skills both in sports and in the classroom.

Qualifications:

• Previous coaching experience, preferably at the middle school or high school level.
• Strong knowledge of baseball fundamentals, techniques, and rules.
• Ability to communicate effectively with middle school students, parents, and colleagues.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
• A commitment to creating an environment that emphasizes teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including mornings and afternoons for practices and games.
