Job Summary And Qualifications
As aLaboratory Assistantat ourfacilityyou will be an integral part of our Laboratory team. We are a highly functioning team that supports many different departments and has a passion for providing the best patient care through compassionate, professional interactions and reliable testing. In this role:
Affiliated with our hospital is Pleasant View Emergency Center. This fully equipped, freestanding facility features board-certified physicians. Our nurses and technicians are specially trained in emergency medical care and available on a 24/7 basis.
Located 10 miles north of our main hospital, PVER features 10 plus treatment rooms, comprehensive imaging technology and a medical laboratory onsite, which help to ensure accurate and prompt care.
Ogden Regional Medical Center and Pleasant View Emergency Center sit at the heart of the Wasatch Mountain range. The area has abundant outdoor recreation including hiking, biking, rock climbing, watersports and three ski resorts within a half-hour drive; Ogden offers the lure of outdoor living and the culture of city life.

Job Summary And Qualifications
As aLaboratory Assistantat ourfacilityyou will be an integral part of our Laboratory team. We are a highly functioning team that supports many different departments and has a passion for providing the best patient care through compassionate, professional interactions and reliable testing. In this role:
- Collects blood samples ensuring proper patient identification and labeling ofsamples.
- Follows hospital policies and procedures for transporting/delivering samples to Laboratory.
- Receives specimens into computer system and delivers them to theappropriate areasof the lab for testing.
- Maintains strict quality control for procedures.
- May perform special tests such as glucose tolerance tests.
- Streaking plates for microbiology set up,performand report specific waived testing.
- Maintains records of tests performed and blood samples taken.
- Maintains needed equipment and supplies.
- Provides age and culturallyappropriate care.
- Orients and mentorsnew staffmembers.
- Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment asrequired.
- You will provide courteous and caring customer service and support to patients, family members, physicians, and their office staff.
- You will order Laboratory tests and, when necessary, send specimens to a reference laboratory.
- You will verify documentation on incoming orders andmaintainnecessary logs.
- You will send test results of outpatients to the attending physician.
- You will train new employees and others in specimen receiving duties and responsibilities.
- Good computer skills; filing/clerical skills.
- Prior specimen receiving experience preferred.
- Phlebotomy experience preferred.
- Course in medical terminology preferred.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
