In this role, you'll handle a variety of essential tasks, including processing payments, explaining account details clearly and accurately, and ensuring timely and compliant refunds. You’ll also collaborate with campus departments on change requests and assist with other accounting functions as needed.

The Accounting Technician works under the direct supervision of the Accounting Director.
1. Fiscal liaison with Admissions for intake of payments.
2. Student point of contact for payment reminders, collections, refunds, and explanation of account history and discrepancies.
3. Fiscal contact for collection of employee payments to the College.
4. Point of contact for providing cash needs for auxiliary areas including change orders, deposits for bank, and deposit slips.
5. Maintain the tuition voucher email account and apply student payment vouchers.
6. Upkeep foundation deposit log documentation.
7. Responsible for needed supplies in the office.
8. Maintain department mailboxes, distribute incoming mail, and process outgoing mail.
9. Assists and serves as back-up for the Accounts Receivable Specialist.
10. Serves as back-up for Accounts Payable.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements:
1. High School Diploma and 1-3 years minimum of related work experience in basic accounting and customer service duties.
2. Knowledge of FERPA guidelines regarding student information.
3. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
4. Working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat DC, specifically how to combine and edit files.
5. Working knowledge with an accounting software system.
6. Be organized, able to multi-task efficiently, and have attention to detail.
7. Demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills.
8. Work well in a team environment as well as independently.
9. Possess a professional demeanor and dress.
10. Maintain strict confidentiality and professional discretion regarding sensitive and proprietary information.
Physical Requirements:
1. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform most work; however, there will be some walking; standing; bending; reaching; and carrying light items. Special physical demands are not required of the position.
2. Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
Working Hours:
Monday - Thursday: 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.Friday: 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
