Our program trains students to confidently fill the urgent need in the healthcare community. As a CNA, you have the valuable experience and education needed on our team as we jumpstart our student’s healthcare journey. We are looking for a CNA instructor assistant to help with focused hands-on skills teaching at local high schools and in our main campus classroom. Each class is approximately 2-4 hours long, not including prep or cleaning time. Classes are held on weekdays at a variety of times to accommodate needed schedules (morning, mid-day and evening). The Nursing Assistant Instructor Assistant will be responsible for providing support to program instructors and students. This position works under the direction of the Nursing Assisting Program Coordinator.
Additional responsibilities include verifying student competencies, student advisement, meeting student retention, membership and placement goals, and maintaining student records.
1. Assist in the delivery of technical instruction in a safe, clean, and productive learning environment; maintain student records to include verification of attendance and competency completion.
2. Assist students with job placement and applicable industry or state certifications/licenses in support of meeting placement and licensure/certification goals.
3. Contribute to the retention of students enrolled in College courses.
4. Exemplify, motivate, and advise students in the areas of program and college expectations and appropriate work behavior and dress standards. Assist counselors, supervisor, and other staff as necessary to resolve issues affecting student success.
5. Complete ongoing professional development to increase technical expertise and instructional skills.
6. Interact in a positive and professional manner with students, coworkers, and college partners seeking win-win solutions.
7. Complete assignments within established timelines in preparation for employer advisory team meetings, college team meetings, and programmatic accreditation.
8. Work cooperatively within the college community. Actively serve on college teams as assigned and participate in programmatic and college-wide marketing activities.
9. The incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must have a current Nurse Assisting Certification from the State of Utah.
2. Preference will be given to individuals who have teaching experience.
3. Preference will be given to individuals who have long-term care experience.
4. Familiar with word processing, email and can operate a Windows-based personal computer.
5. Spanish-speaking proficiency desirable.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Work requires physical exertion. May require the ability to stand, walk, bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, lift moderately heavy items (up to 40 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time.
2. Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
Work Hours:
This is a part-time position ranging from 24 to 29 hours per week.
Work hours fall within standard classroom times:
- 8:00–11:00 AM
- 12:00–3:00 PM
- 4:00–8:00 PM
The schedule is flexible but requires availability for at least one evening per week. Typical schedules may include 6–7 hours per day, 4 days a week, or 5 hours per day, 5 days a week.
