Summary/Objective

The Burn Table Operator is responsible for setting up and operating the CNC burn table machine to cut or perform other machining operations on steel in the manufacture of parts. Determines operation sequence, selects, and adjusts machine to perform proper cutting/burning of plate.

Essential Functions

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints as well as check for errors.
• Layout and burn/cut plate steel.
• Identify and number material for fabrication, as well as material to be sent out for further forming.
• Clean grind plate as necessary.
• Welding may be required on occasion.
• Must be able to read a tape measure.
• Ability to operate a forklift and crane.
• Sort and palletize burned parts for the fabrication department.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisor Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

Non-temperature-controlled environment with loud noises, dust, dirt, and metal particles that are usually associated with metal fabrication shops. All employees are required to wear personal protective equipment to include noise/hearing protection, safety glasses with side shields, safety harness, full face grinding shield, welding hood and OSHA compliant safety boots/shoes within the manufacturing facility.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing duties of this job, the employee in this position is regularly required to stand for long periods of time. This position requires walking, the ability to reach, ascend/descend ladders, bend, kneel, and stoop. The employee occasionally will lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday, 6:00 a.m. to

4:30 p.m. Additional work hours and weekends may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

No travel may be required for this position.

Education and Experience

• High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
• 3 years’ experience as a CNC machine operator with burn table experience or similar demonstrated numerically controlled machine operation abilities.
• Layout, and light welding experience.
• Metal fabrication knowledge.
