Job Duties:

Coal Program Management:

  • Coordinate coal, railcar, and transportation procurement.
  • Evaluate bids for cost, terms, and conditions.
  • Implement corporate risk management policies and Dodd-Frank compliance reviews.

Trading and Scheduling:

  • Execute hedges and assist with hedge system administration.
  • Buy, sell, and schedule physical natural gas to support generating facilities.
  • Manage fuel oil trades as needed.

Industry Monitoring:

  • Stay updated on energy news, industry publications, and utility IRPs.
  • Assess impacts on OPC and provide strategy recommendations.

Co-Owner Interaction:

  • Serve as OPC's backup representative on the Scherer Fuel Committee.
  • Maintain communication with Georgia Power (plant operator) as well as other co-owners.

Billing and Reporting:

  • Validate and investigate complex billing reports and coal stock ledgers.
  • Resolve discrepancies with Georgia Power.

Process Integration:

  • Develop integrated processes among internal functions.
  • Provide technical support on coal, gas, and oil issues.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Assist in creating transportation, gas price, and coal budgets.
  • Conduct quarterly coal forecasting.

Dispatch Rate Communication:

  • Set and communicate monthly dispatch rates for OPC-generating units.

Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field.

Experience: 1-3 years of relevant energy industry experience (coal, natural gas, utility operations). Experience with coal procurement, natural gas supply, and pipeline assets is preferred. Knowledge of electric power generation and co-op structure is a plus.

Equivalent Experience: 2 years in an analytics-heavy role such as engineering, planning, forecasting, finance, audit, or accounting.

Specialized Skills:

  • Familiarity with co-op structure and natural gas/power market economics.
  • Strong organizational, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong Excel and programming skills preferred.

Salary : $86,000 - $107,000
