Green Power EMC is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to securing renewable energy resources for 38 of Georgia's Electric Membership Corporations (EMCs), serving approximately 4.7 million members. Green Power's oversight is managing the origination, development, and negotiation of renewable energy projects, providing employees with opportunities to engage with external entities and stay informed about current trends in renewable energy markets. This role is responsible for shaping and managing Green Power EMC's public image, ensuring consistent and impactful messaging that aligns with the organization's renewable energy mission.
The Manager of Communication & Corporate Relations is responsible for the development, management, and implementation of all internal and external marketing and communications projects for Green Power EMC (GPEMC):
- Providing strategic communications consulting and planning, overseeing creative direction, and consulting with senior management to develop and communicate the vision, values, and strategies of the organizations.
- Leading Green Power EMC's community relations with a focus on communities that host, or expected to host, a GPEMC renewable energy project
- Coordinating closely with OPC, GTC, and GEMC communications and community relations staff and with GPEMC partners
Job Duties:
- Works with Green Power EMC leadership to develop strategic communications that promote the vision, values, and strategies of GPEMC strengthen brand awareness, amplify key messages, and resonate with targeted audiences.
- Leads the creative production process and guides the corporate communications specialist and/or outside vendors. Provides communications consulting company-wide in public relations, collateral materials, social media, presentations, websites, intranet, videos, promotions, special events, and programs.
- Develops and implements public and media relations programs, plans, and strategies; coordinates with OPC when a media spokesperson is required. Analyzes activities of the corporation and advises leadership on media value or potential exposure; monitors and distributes media coverage. Writes and manages the distribution of news releases.
- Leads community relations for GPEMC. Coordinate closely with OPC, GTC, GEMC, and GPEMC's partners. Manage the donations budget that supports community relations. Meet with community leaders, chambers of commerce, etc. to promote a positive relationship and image for GPEMC. Develop and implement local education programs and associated events that support community relations objectives.
- Serves as a communications liaison for Member EMCs, developing talking points, communications tools, and other resources to support local-level communications for GPEMC-related topics.
- Defines and enforces brand standards to ensure consistency across all communication channels.
- Serves as Green Power EMC's representative at external functions, strengthening relationships with key stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in communications and/or graduate degree in business or communications.
Experience:
- 7 years of public relations agency, corporate, or government experience managing large multi-faceted projects requiring strategic planning.
- Experience in managing the production of digital and print materials.
- Experience working with cooperatives or franchisees is a plus.
- 3 years in a managerial function
Specialized Skills:
- Experience managing website content development and overseeing digital communication strategy, print production, social media, and public relations.
- Previous corporate communications expertise, preferably for a Fortune 500 firm.
- Brand management, including iconography, consistent messaging, web content, and design.
- Crisis management, including message development and media relations.
- Must be proficient in standard business tools/Microsoft Office products.
Travel: 25%
Unusual hours: Evening events may be required for corporate and community engagement initiatives.
Salary : $104,000 - $130,000
