Position Summary
Ogletree Deakins has the opportunity for an experienced Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion to join the Firm’s expanding Diversity, Equity and Inclusion department. The Director (Director) of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) will collaborate with the Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (CDEIO) and other firm leaders to develop and implement the firm’s global DEI strategy and goals. The Director will provide thought leadership and support for the creation, execution, and management of the firm’s DEI initiatives and programs. This position may be hybrid, but the successful candidate must reside in a state where the firm has a physical office.

In accordance with Maryland’s Equal Pay for Equal Work-Wage Range Transparency Law, the expected salary range for this Baltimore position is between $129,000 and $193,400. In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the expected salary range for this Colorado position is between $143,800 and $215,600. In accordance with New York State’s Wage Transparency Law, the expected salary range for this New York State position is between $123,200 and $244,200. In accordance with California’s amended labor code as stated in Senate Bill 1162, the expected salary range for this California position is between $114,200 and $256,200. In accordance with the Washington Equal Pay and Opportunities act, the expected salary range for this Washington position is between $144,100 and $216,100. In accordance with the Wage Transparency Omnibus Amendment Act, the expected salary range for this DC position is between $145,100 and $217,700. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, geographic location, and other job-related factors as permitted by law. This position qualifies for the benefits below.

Essential Functions
- Create, recommend, and execute new DEI programs and initiatives designed to attract, develop, and retain diverse talent and foster inclusivity
- Collaborate with the CDEIO, Diversity and Inclusion Steering Committee, Affinity Group Leaders, and DEI Ambassadors to implement the firm’s DEI strategic plan
- Assist with delivering DEI-focused training, workshops, and seminars to all stakeholders
- Co-develop DEI communications and collateral for internal and external audiences
- Assist with developing and monitoring the annual DEI budget
- Collaborate with the CDEIO to set annual departmental goals and plans
- Supervise, train, and develop direct reports
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with other firm leaders, departments, and business services professionals
- Identify opportunities to raise the profile of the firm in the legal and corporate communities
- Build relationships with diverse organizations, and serve as one of the firm’s representatives at DEI conferences and other relevant events as needed
- Engage in continual learning about DEI trends and best practices
- Comply with firm operations, policies, and procedures
- Manage firm resources responsibly
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested by the CDEIO.
- Minimum of 10 years of work experience in a law firm, professional services firm, or corporate entity and a minimum of 4 years of DEI work preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree required; and Juris Doctorate or Master’s Degree in business administration, human resources, and/or leadership and organizational development considered a plus
- Recruiting, Marketing, Professional Development, or similar experience preferred
- Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills with an ability to persuade and influence, and build enthusiasm and commitment
- Superior writing and oral communication skills
- Strong leadership, project management, organizational, research, and problem-solving skills
- Superior attention to detail
- Ability to work well under pressure in a demanding and fast-paced environment
- Ability to handle multiple projects and balance competing priorities and deadlines
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in all aspects of the execution of job duties
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
