We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Engineer (CQE) with expertise in AS9100 and IATF 16949 for machined, stamped, and fabricated products to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for contract review, quality planning and NPI execution, supplier development, and auditing while ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer requirements. This position requires strong print reading skills, GD&T knowledge, and Six Sigma methodologies to drive continuous improvement and maintain product integrity.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Quality & Compliance:
- Conduct contract reviews to ensure compliance with customer and industry requirements.
- Review and provide input on process methods.
- Participate in the continuous improvement of internal quality systems.
- Maintain, Perform and improve PPAP, PFMEA, FMEA, APQP, SPC, and FAI processes in alignment with AS9100 and IATF 16949 standards.
- Perform root cause analysis and corrective actions using DMAIC methodologies for process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with customer and industry specifications through effective quality system processes.
- Develop and implement detailed work instructions and procedures for inspection, assembly, and testing processes.
Supplier Development & Auditing:
- Collaborate with suppliers to enhance quality performance, compliance, and process efficiency.
- Conduct supplier audits to assess compliance with AS9100, IATF 16949, and other regulatory requirements.
- Maintain regulatory history and ensure proper supplier development strategies are in place.
Inspection & Measurement Techniques:
- Create and review in-process inspection reports and collaborate on in-process drawings to ensure product quality throughout production.
- Utilize proper gage and inspection techniques for dimensional verification and process control.
- Ability to perform product layout inspections when required.
- Develop inspection plans and procedures using advanced metrology and measurement tools.
Technical Expertise:
- Strong understanding of GD&T and ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Knowledge of precision machining and fabrication processes within aerospace applications.
- Utilize Statistical Process Control (SPC) for process monitoring and quality control.
- Ability to analyze manufacturing methods and recommend improvements for defect prevention.
Process Improvement & Six Sigma:
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives for product quality using Six Sigma principles (certifications preferred).
- Identify cost-saving and quality improvement opportunities through data-driven analysis.
- Lead and support Corrective Action and Preventive Action (CAPA) processes.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or related field.
- 5 years of aerospace manufacturing quality experience, specifically with machined and fabricated products.
- Strong AS9100 and industry regulatory knowledge.
- Experience with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and FAI processes.
- Proficiency in GD&T, blueprint reading, and interpretation of industry specifications.
- Experience with supplier development, audits, and quality management systems.
- Proficiency in MS Office, statistical software, and quality management tools.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) and/or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification (preferred).
- Experience with CMM programming and metrology software.
- Familiarity with aerospace materials, special processes, and manufacturing techniques.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in manufacturing and office environments.
- May require occasional travel for supplier audits and development activities.
