The Position:
We are looking for a passionate Health Information Assistant to assists all departments in maintaining individual medical records or sections thereof as it relates to resident care. Maintains confidentiality of all medical records through proper filing and storage. Monitors the timely return of medical orders and reports. Responsibilities include:
- Maintains an organized system of records in accordance with federal and state guidelines. Ensures compliance with medical record policies and procedures.
- Maintains confidentiality of all records according to HIPAA standards. Ensures HIPAA protocols are followed regarding the release of records / health information.
- Prepares the medical record for new admissions. Ensures accurately reflects resident face sheet information; allergies, DNR status, physician information, etc.
- Maintains various registers as required including a current resident admission and discharge register and Master Resident Index database. Enters required information into the admission and discharge register and resident database
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in working with Medical Records preferred.
- Possess strong communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel preferred.
- Must have current medical/health screening including 2 step TB clearance (can be done in-house).
