Job Summary:
The HR Assistant provides support to the HR Director and the Human Resources team in a variety of HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, and maintaining HR records. This role is ideal for an individual looking to grow their HR career and gain hands-on experience across multiple HR disciplines.
Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment and Onboarding Support:
- Assist with job postings, candidate screening, and scheduling interviews.
- Prepare and organize new hire paperwork and support onboarding processes.
- Coordinate pre-employment checks, such as reference verification and background screenings.
Employee Relations:
- Act as a point of contact for basic employee inquiries and escalate complex issues to the HR Director.
- Support the organization of employee engagement activities, training and events.
- Help draft communications related to HR policies, procedures, and initiatives.
Benefits Administration Assistance:
- Assist employees with basic benefits-related questions and direct them to appropriate resources.
- Help with benefits enrollment and changes, including during open enrollment periods.
- Maintain and update benefits-related documentation and records.
Compliance and Recordkeeping:
- Assist in maintaining employee files and ensure records are up to date and compliant with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Assist in preparing reports for audits or compliance checks.
- Support the adherence to company policies and procedures.
Payroll and Attendance Monitoring:
- Assist with timecard reviews and ensure accurate reporting of hours worked.
- Monitor attendance records, including tracking absences and leave requests.
- Address employee inquiries regarding attendance or payroll discrepancies.
HR Administration:
- Maintain the HRIS database, ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality.
- Support the HR Director in performance review and training processes.
- Prepare HR reports, memos, and presentations as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is a plus.
- Experience: 1-2 years of administrative or HR-related experience preferred.
- Knowledge:
- Basic understanding of HR functions and employment laws.
- Familiarity with HRIS systems and payroll software is a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with time-tracking and attendance systems.
- Experience in an HR or administrative support role.
- Professional certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, aPHR) is a plus.
