What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ambulance Biller and Coder position at Ohio Billing, Inc?
Summary:
The Medical Biller and Coder works with providers, physicians, nurses, hospitals, insurance companies, state and federal agencies, and other professionals and organizations to obtain information necessary to accurately and efficiently handle billing claims, processing changeovers and troubleshooting denials/rejections.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Positive communication, organizational, & general office skills (including Microsoft Office)
- Dependable, Reliable, Trustworthy
- Computer savvy, accurate keyboarding and 10-key skills
- Experience in medical field/terminology
- Have ability to function in fast-paced environment
- Quick learner and ability to multi-task
- Excellent attendance record and punctual
- Knowledge of different insurance companies
- Comfortable working independently
- Ability to climb up and down staircase
- Ability to sit extensively with repetitive movements
Essential Duties and Expectations:
- Perform all duties and tasks faithfully, industriously, and to the best of your ability. This includes duties specifically listed as well as those not listed that may be required or directed by management
- Always adhere to HIPAA guidelines
- Accurately enter consumer information into computer software billing program from incident reports
- Determine proper billing schedule to be entered
- Contact hospital or consumer to obtain insurance information for billing.
- Verifying all insurance IDs (primary & secondary), relationship to consumer, address, demographics
- Attaching required documentation into billing software
- Enter correct document properties in the call located in the billing software
- Contact nursing homes to determine if patient is skilled or non-skilled
- Process changeovers, verifying insurance and addresses
- Proper phone etiquette with good customer service
- File daily billing in proper slots for processing as required
- Assist with all areas of billing operation when required
- Alter working hours based on 10hr scheduling or billing workload
Essential Duties and Expectations Continued:
- Insurance verification
- Callback follow-up check on status of a claim and document follow-up
- Process and rebill mail returns including calling for correct address if needed
- Potentially cross-trained for other duties
- Work denials, correspondence and appeals
- Mandatory overtime may be required based on workload
- Cross-trained for other duties

Pay: $13.00 - $14.50 per hour
